Over the years we have established a safety and hygiene culture where employees and the company support each other in taking individual and collective responsibility. And we’ve taken care to make sure our standards and procedures are industry leading. Our technical specialists review them regularly to ensure we meet our KPIs, legal compliance and best practice.
We have been supporting many of our teams to achieve OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety accreditation, confirming we are working to world class health and safety standards.
All of our teams also adhere to a health and safety plan created and monitored by our health and safety team, in line with guidance from The Health and Safety Commission and Institute of Directors’ joint report ‘Leading Health and Safety at Work’.
This plan has four key action areas:
· Planning
At Scolarest this is much more than simply having a health
and safety policy in place, its ensuring our teams understand
the roles people play and the key health and safety issues in
their workplace.
· Delivering
We ensure that our teams have the resources and skills to
allow them to effectively risk assess their working environment
and to involve employees of all levels in the decision-making
process.
· Monitoring
Our teams use a state of the art online incident reporting
system that is easy and simple to work, further encouraging
them to report all incidents and near misses. It is only by
thorough reporting that we have the information to enable us
to focus our efforts on the key health and safety priorities.
· Reviewing
We regularly review our health and safety data and
management processes to ensure we are effectively
managing risk and protecting our clients, their students and
our teams.
